Good advice at a sensible price

Fees

Whether working with clients directly or through an intermediary we try to ensure a collaborative approach. It is about discussion, negotiation and agreement together as a team. The initial conversation is usually free whether this is through a meeting, call, email or Skype meeting. We would not anticipate this being more than an hour of our time. This would usually be a fact finding mission to ascertain what the issue is. In order to help we would need full disclosure of the facts. If advice is expected straight away at this meeting this would expect to be charged for. Once we know the problem we can then provide you with a quote for the work. This might have to be by agreeing:

  • an hourly rate to begin with; or
  • a fixed amount to do necessary research to come up with some ideas for a solution; or
  • a fixed one off fee where the matter is straight forward; or
  • the first stage fee where the matter might take some time or be at the whim of HMRC.
Where ever we can we will agree fees upfront but it is not always possible, especially when negotiating with HMRC. Any fee will include travel costs and any other necessary expenses plus VAT at the appropriate rate. We can be flexible to a certain extent depending on the complexity of the matter, the client's expectations or the fee levels of the intermediary when we work via another firm but it should be remembered this is specialist advice. We want to work happily with you and for you to use us again so there is no attempt to maximise the fee take. We do quality work at a fair price. We find a lot of work by recommendation so it is not in our interest to upset anyone on fees.   We look forward to working with you.
